Brazil has reached the milestone of 1 million residential solar energy systems, show data from the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), collected by Portal Solar.
Photovoltaic installations in this market total 6.4 GW and benefit 1.2 million consumers who have joined the distributed solar generation segment. Next come the commercial, rural and industrial categories, with 145 thousand, 96 thousand and 21 thousand photovoltaic systems, respectively. Recently, the Brazilian solar DG market reached 13 GW of installed capacity.
The modality allows savings on the electricity bill through own energy generation and the offset of credits with the distributor.
Aneel data also reveals that the number of photovoltaic systems installed in 2022 already exceeds the total recorded last year: 431 thousand compared to 430 thousand connections in 2021. Throughout the year, more than 4 operational GW were added to solar DG in Brazil, benefiting more than 500 thousand consumers.
